Since this is a quarterly magazine, that represents two and a half years of effort and love put in by our amazing staff…
Me.
That’s right, I’m taking this opportunity to pat myself on the back. This magazine is still small, but it has grown in leaps and bounds. The very first issue had only public domain stories, but by the second I had enough submissions to feature five original short stories. I’d love to say “from there, submissions only grew!” but it’s not totally true. For a while I struggled with low submission numbers. I knew the answer to that was social media, but I also struggled with what sort of content to put out.
It took a little bit of experimentation (with social media, submission windows, and content delivery), but I seem to have landed on a strategy that works. You, dear readers and writers, have taken notice of my little labor of love, and both submissions and viewers have risen so much over the last year it’s hard to keep up with it all.
Every quarter, the stories get better, more engaging, and more fun to read, so really, I’ve made it to ten issues because of you. You keep me engaged and make we want to keep going! The only downside to the deluge of stories I get to read now is that I have to reject so many of them. But I take solace in the fact that I get to read them before they find their eventual home. That’s a rare gift.
So, thank you, whether you’ve submitted or enjoyed a story or two. I appreciate it, and I hope you have too.
