Well, here we are.
I’ve been talking about creating this magazine for some time now, even buying the perseidprophecies.ca domain over a year ago. But life just kept getting in the way, and something else always seemed a bit more important.
But now, finally, I have made getting this first issue out and properly launching Perseid Prophecies a priority. In this first issue, you’ll find a sampling of the sorts of tales I hope to bring you at the dawn of each new season—stories of wonder, fear, and often enough insanity inducing confusion.
If you’re a fan of classic sci-fi and weird tales, you may recognize some of the names in this inaugural issue. Each of these stories comes from the public domain and is, in fact, decades old. As such, there may be some examples of older styles of spelling and thinking. These have been left unedited on purpose, if for no other reason than to show how we have changed.
We are opening for submissions at the same time as this issue’s release, but I plan to continue sharing at least one classic story in each issue as we move forward.
As for this space, I plan on using Raye’s Rants as a sort of homage to the Stan’s Soapbox columns that appeared in Marvel Comics, written by none other than Stan “the Man” Lee himself. I’ll use the opportunity to discuss current events in science fiction, fantasy, and horror, share my opinions on various topics, and maybe even nerd out a bit over pop culture: movies, shows, books, and other content relevant to our favorite genres.
So, for now, I can only say thanks for joining us on our maiden voyage! I hope you’ll stick around. In the meantime, please excuse the dust as I try to figure all this out!
E.S. Raye
